Ridgewood is one of the towns we know best. It is also one of the more demanding places in Bergen County to keep a yard looking right, and the reason is the trees. The village sits under a genuinely old canopy — the Heights was laid out between the 1890s and 1930, and the oaks and maples that went in with those houses are now eighty to a hundred feet of shade sitting over every lawn beneath them.
That one fact changes almost everything. Turf under that much canopy needs a higher cut, shade-tolerant seed and an honest conversation about the corners where grass is simply never going to win. It also means an autumn leaf load heavier than most of the county, coming down over weeks rather than in one tidy fall — which is why a single clean-up pass in late October rarely finishes the job here.
Then there is water. Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and the Saddle River both run through the village, and the low ground near them behaves differently to the high ground up around Crest Road, where The View looks out toward the Manhattan skyline. A planting bed that thrives on one side of Ridgewood will sulk on the other. We plan for the lot in front of us rather than the town on the map.

Custom Landscape Design
Retaining walls, planting beds and full property layouts designed around how you actually use the yard — then built by the crew that drew it.
Lawn Maintenance & Planting
Mowing, edging, trimming, fertilisation and seasonal planting on a schedule — so the property looks cared for every week, not just after a visit.

Top Soils & Mulching
Nutrient-rich topsoil to get growth moving, and clean mulch beds that hold moisture, block weeds and make the whole property read as finished.
Spring & Fall Clean Ups
Leaves, storm debris, cutbacks and bed prep — the two visits a year that decide whether the yard bounces back or falls behind.

Dead, storm-damaged or badly placed trees taken down safely and cleanly — fully insured, and your yard left spotless when we leave.
What makes Ridgewood different
A canopy that decides everything
Century-old oak and maple over most of the village. Shade-tolerant planting, a higher cut through summer, and an autumn clean-up scheduled in passes rather than one visit.
Two watercourses to respect
Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and the Saddle River set the water table on the low side of town. Beds, patios and walls near them get planned around drainage first.
Older houses, tighter lots
Much of Ridgewood was built before the war, on lots with real setbacks and mature foundation planting. Hardscape here has to suit the age of the house and go in without tearing up the lawn to reach the back.
