Glen Rock takes its name from the boulder sitting at Rock Road and Doremus Avenue — a 570-ton glacial erratic the Lenape called Pamachapuka, stone from heaven. It is a fair symbol for the ground here. The borough sits low, in a valley at around 130 feet, which is the lowest of any town on our route, and that matters more than it sounds.
Low ground drains slowly. Combine that with a small, densely built borough of mature suburban housing and a great deal of established tree cover, and the recurring Glen Rock problems are predictable: water sitting where you do not want it, lawns struggling under shade they did not have thirty years ago, and beds that have quietly climbed above the grade they started at.

What makes Glen Rock different
The lowest ground we work
At roughly 130 feet in a valley, Glen Rock drains more slowly than the towns around it. Drainage leads the plan here more often than anywhere else on our route.
Shade that arrived gradually
Trees planted with the houses are now mature. Lawns that worked for decades stop working, and the fix is a different cut, different seed, or a different surface entirely.
Beds above grade
Established properties with decades of mulch build-up. Taking the level back down usually matters more than adding anything new on top.
