What a Riverdale property actually needs

Riverdale is the nearest Morris County town to our yard, about seven miles, and it is also the one that has changed fastest. More than half of the housing here was built after 2000, and the share of detached single-family homes dropped from roughly fifty-three per cent to thirty-eight per cent between 2010 and 2021 as townhome and multi-family communities went up.

That matters practically, because new construction brings a specific set of landscaping problems: builder grading that sends water toward the foundation, thin topsoil spread over compacted subsoil, and planting chosen for the day it was installed rather than for what the site can support in five years. Those are all fixable, and they are cheaper to fix early.

The other half of the borough is older and steeper. Riverdale has the Pequannock River along its northern boundary and the Pompton along the east — around three miles of river frontage — with substantial steep slopes in the north-west that the borough's own planning documents flag as limiting development. Flat riverfront on one side, ledge and grade on the other, in two square miles.

What we do

Every service, in Riverdale

The same crew handles all of it, so nothing gets handed off to a subcontractor who was never on your property.

Custom Landscape Design

Retaining walls, planting beds and full property layouts designed around how you actually use the yard — then built by the crew that drew it.

Lawn Maintenance & Planting

Mowing, edging, trimming, fertilisation and seasonal planting on a schedule — so the property looks cared for every week, not just after a visit.

Paver Installation

Patios, walkways and driveways laid on a proper base so they stay level through Jersey winters instead of shifting after two seasons.

Top Soils & Mulching

Nutrient-rich topsoil to get growth moving, and clean mulch beds that hold moisture, block weeds and make the whole property read as finished.

Spring & Fall Clean Ups

Leaves, storm debris, cutbacks and bed prep — the two visits a year that decide whether the yard bounces back or falls behind.

Tree Removal

Dead, storm-damaged or badly placed trees taken down safely and cleanly — fully insured, and your yard left spotless when we leave.

What makes Riverdale different

New construction, old problems

Over half the housing here post-dates 2000. Builder grading, compacted subsoil and thin topsoil are the usual findings, and all three are cheaper to correct now than to live with.

Steep slopes in the north-west

The borough's own planning documents flag substantial steep slopes on that side. Grade gets held with properly drained walls and terracing rather than hoped about.

Three miles of river frontage

The Pequannock to the north, the Pompton to the east. Properties on the low eastern ground get drainage designed before anything decorative.

Common questions

Riverdale, specifically

We just moved into a new build and the yard is a mess. Where do we start?
Grading, almost always. On new construction the first question is whether water leaves the house or arrives at it, because everything else is wasted money if that is wrong. Then topsoil depth, then planting. It is not the glamorous order but it is the one that lasts.
Do you work in the townhome communities?
Yes, on private areas — and we will tell you plainly where the boundary sits between what is yours and what the association maintains, so you are not paying us to do something already covered.
How close are you to Riverdale?
About seven miles, roughly thirteen minutes. It is the closest Morris County town to our Oakland yard.
